Android G1 Dev Phone Settings for AT&T

By steve - Posted on 26 February 2009

These are the settings I needed to get my new Android G1 phone to talk to ATT's (AT&T's), formerly Cingular's, data network...

Name: att
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: wap.cingulargprs.com
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: <Not set>
MMS port: 80
MMC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: <Not set>

Unfortunately, that only gets me EDGE (150kbs), not 3G (700kbs). After making the jump from Verizon, I now find out I can only expect EDGE data, not 3G, from AT&T as their 3G network runs on 850MHz and 1900Mhz. The G1 currently (Feb 2009) only supports T-Mobile's 1700/2100 MHz 3G bands.

Sigh. Maybe the frequencies are programmable...
